Dr NaMoo Park
Upon completion of his Degree in Dentistry at Griffith University, Dr NaMoo Park provided dental care on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane before relocating to Melbourne.
As a child, he had several experiences at a dentist that left him feeling anxious. He uses this as his inspiration to help change people’s perception of the dentist. He ensures that all his patients receive the most comfortable dental experience he can provide. His philosophy is to put himself in his patient’s shoes. Therefore, all his treatments are of a standard that he would be happy to receive himself. This attitude has helped him win over even the most nervous patients.
He is passionate about dentistry and frequently travels internationally to learn from the best of the best. He is always striving to advance his knowledge.
Besides being experienced in all forms of general dentistry, he has skills in cosmetic dentistry, including more complex dental treatments involving implants.
NaMoo is accomplished in all areas of orthodontics, including the use of Invisalign clear braces. He has been awarded a Fellowship in Orthodontics from the International College of Continuing Dental Education (FICCDE) for recognition of his extensive training.
Dr NaMoo keeps his work-life balance with his rescue dog, Tazzie. He enjoys a wide range of sports and enjoys taking his motorcycle out on sunny days. When the weather isn’t great, he enjoys spending his time in the kitchen, baking the next creation for his family and friends.
Dr David Abdelmalek
Graduating as one of the top students in his year level, Dr David Abdelmalek completed his Bachelor of Health Sciences in Dentistry/Master of Dentistry at La Trobe University. Here he excelled both clinically and theoretically.
Before settling back in Melbourne, David practised in several rural towns including Bendigo, Ballarat and Wodonga, where he gained extensive experience and knowledge in the management of complex cases.
Extremely passionate about dentistry, his inherent interests include root canal (endodontics) and crown and bridge treatments. He also has a keen eye on cosmetic dentistry.
David always aims to stay abreast of the newest developments in dentistry, frequently attending professional development courses to up-skill. Currently, he is studying a Diploma of Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry to enhance further his skills and knowledge in the area of cosmetic and rehabilitative dentistry.
Away from dentistry, you’ll find David exploring Melbourne’s restaurants with friends or on the pitch playing soccer.
Dr Banu Bala
Dr Banu Bala is a welcome addition to the Barkly Street Dental Group and has come to us after working in clinics across regional and rural Queensland. She is a keen and skilled practitioner in all dental disciplines – from simple gum treatments to full cosmetic smile makeovers. As a mother, she loves working with children and has a particular skill in making a child’s first dental experience calm and memorable.
Dr Banu has a dedicated interest in disrupted sleep and issues related to oral health – such as teeth grinding and snoring. This interest has led her to focus on dental treatments related to sleep – she has completed a mini-residency with Dental Sleep Institute in Melbourne. The mini-residency explored techniques in Oral Appliance Therapy for snoring, sleep apnoea and bruxism (teeth grinding).
Because Dr Banu has been a Clinical Supervisor for final-year dental students at The University of Melbourne, she is a dentist who believes in doing things right. Her attention to detail extends to her Membership program of Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (MRACDS). In 2011, Dr Banu graduated in dentistry from Universitas Sumatera Utara, and she completed her Australian Dental Council Examinations in 2018.
Outside of our clinic, Banu enjoys spending quality family time with her husband Nivas, her vibrant young daughter Sonia, and Sniffy – their very cheeky beagle puppy. To keep herself grounded and centred, she practices yoga, and she has lately discovered the sensory experiences of the saltwater floating pod – she can’t get enough of it!
Dr Ali Sefidroodi
For over ten years, Dr Ali (Aliakbar) Sefidroodi has been living in bayside Melbourne with his wife, young family and gorgeous Samoyed dog called Bafi.
Dr Ali completed his dental studies at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Teheran, Iran, and was one of the top students in the 2004 graduating class. He was one of the few students to have his work and research on new frontiers in dentistry published in Australian dental journals, and was the recipient of several scholarships in his university days.
He’s a lifelong learner, having completed a two-year mini-residency in orthodontics in Sydney, as well as attending ongoing lectures and hands-on training facilitated by the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry. He’s also attended professional development courses at international venues, including Portugal (All-on-4 dental implant course ) Los Angeles (Soft and hard tissue grafting) and Budapest, Hungary (Advanced Bone Grafting).
Upon moving to Melbourne, Dr Ali spent three years working in community dental clinics in Prahran and South Melbourne, before moving to private practice. With over fifteen years’ experience, he enjoys working close to where he lives, applying his high standards of treatment to all his patients. Dr Ali’s special skills and interests lie in laser frenectomy (treatment of tongue ties), pain relief treatments as well as general and restorative dentistry.
