All On 4 Plus dental implants in Mornington

The All On 4 Plus treatment approach replaces damaged or missing teeth with a complete set of teeth on only four implants restoring your smile to its natural appearance. Patients visit us from Mt Martha, Dromana and all across the Peninsula for All On 4 Plus dental implants.

We are the first dental practice on the Mornington Peninsula to offer our patients access to the All On 4 Plus technique. This procedure is ideal for people who have lost multiple teeth or have severe tooth decay.

The All On 4 Plus technique can restore your smile and improve your oral health, making it easier to eat, speak, and, for many, live a more confident life.

The result is immediate, permanent, natural-looking replacement teeth that function like natural teeth, and the implants can last a lifetime with proper care.

What are All On 4 dental implants?

Modern dentistry has offered All On 4 dental implant procedures to patients since 1990. This implant procedure immediately replaces an entire arch (row) of teeth using only four dental implants.

Compared to traditional dental implant treatments, where up to eight implants are required, All On 4 dental implants are much less invasive, quicker to apply and reduce healing time.

Compared to regular implants the All On 4 procedure includes:

  • Only four titanium dental implants, with the rear implants angled.
  • New immediate final teeth made from a high-impact acrylic compound.
  • The complete dental implant treatment in 1-2 days.

Why are the back implants angled at 45 degrees?

Angled implants provide the best possible support for total integration into the jawbone (osseointegration). Placing the implants at a precise 45 degree angle avoids poorer-quality parts of the jawbone, ensuring optimal implant strength and retention.

The All On 4 Plus dental implant procedure

Step 1: Consultation

We begin with a general examination, where we will look at your gums, jawbones and teeth to determine if dental implants are the right choice for you.

We’ll scan your oral cavity with CBCT scans, a specialised dental imaging tool that uses 3D X-rays and CT scans. The images allow us to assess your jaw and teeth for the suitability of receiving dental implants. It also provides detailed information which helps plan for optimal dental implant surgery.

We’ll discuss the benefits and potential risks of All On 4 Plus dental implant surgery. Then, if we mutually agree that this is the best course of treatment, we will provide you with a comprehensive treatment plan. We will also provide a quote for your financial consideration.

The plan and quotation will assist you in making an informed decision. You can even discuss the options with your family before proceeding with the treatment.

Step 2: Treatment coordination and design

We will nominate a treatment coordinator once you’ve agreed to proceed with All On 4 Plus dental implant treatment. This person will be your direct point of contact and responsible for all arrangements throughout the treatment process.

Your treatment coordinator provides you with information and prescriptions and arranges any necessary tests before the dental implant surgery. Once we set a date, you’ll need to come in for photographs and impressions.

As dental implants will also change the look of your smile, the discussion will focus on digital smile design so you can get used to having a beautiful smile again. You can choose the colour and shape of your new teeth or leave it to us. We’re patient-centred dentists, so we encourage as much input from you as possible.

Together with the scans and imaging from Step 1, we will plan for the best implant positions for surgery, ensuring a customised All On 4 Plus procedure and your best possible outcome.

Step 3: Surgery

Our dentists with All On 4 Plus Premium Provider accreditation will perform your surgery.

The treatment plan determined during Step 2 will let us know if you need teeth extractions or jawbone reshaping before implant insertion. The treatment plan will also detail the precise location and angle of the positions of the implants.

We will use general anaesthetic or sedation during the surgical procedure based on your preferences and our recommendation. During the surgery, we close your wounds with dissolvable sutures and take impressions once we have inserted the implants.

Throughout the procedure, we will monitor all aspects of your functions and delivery of the anaesthetic to ensure a quick recovery with minimal side effects.

Within a few hours, we’ll perform a same-day try-in to compare the digital design with the actual outcome. If needed, we can make final adjustments before producing the replacement teeth components.

We will provide care instructions for you to follow at home, and we’ll see you at our dental surgery the next day.

Step 4: Your new smile

We apply your permanent replacement teeth across the four implants.

You’ll be so excited to see your new smile at the end of your time in the dental chair. We’re proud of every dental implant transformation we do, and we’re so pleased you’ve chosen us to perform your All On 4 Plus procedure.

Given the unique patient complexities and additional training of our dental team, we will develop an individual cost for each patient.

FAQs About All On 4 Plus Implants

How long do All On 4 Plus implants last?

Modern dentistry states that All On 4 Plus dental implant treatments should last at least 20-25 years. Additionally, with ongoing patient care and regular dental attention, the four implants in each jawbone should last a lifetime.

The first dental implant treatments using All On 4 methods began in 1998, so we use upwards of two decades of information to observe how long these implants last.

All On 4 Plus dental implants fuse to the bone just like conventional dental implants and use titanium fixings just like traditional dental implants.

Does the All On 4 Plus implant treatment procedure carry any risks?

Any dental surgery procedure carries risks. We will outline these risks before agreeing to All On 4 dental implant treatment. The overall implant procedure using the All On 4 Plus approach has a very high success rate of over 98%.

Will my All On 4 Plus dental implants fail?

There is an average of less than 0.5% chance that a full-arch dental implant treatment (All On 4 or All On 4 Plus) will fail. Modern dentistry sees this chance of failure as very low risk. Dental implant failures occur when the implant doesn’t fuse to the bone.

If an implant fails, our dentist can affix a new implant to the bone. We note that implants attached to the bone after a second round have a higher chance of successful bone fusion (osseointegration).

How will I know if my All On 4 Plus implants have failed?

With such a high success rate, we don’t expect our patients to experience a failed dental implant. However, if you experience any of the following instances, please get in touch with our surgery right away to arrange for a detailed examination:

  • A loose implant, or one that moves in the mouth
  • Severe discomfort or pain
  • Notable inflammation or swelling of gum tissue.
Does my dentist have extra training in the All On 4 Plus approach?

Dr Fady Goher, our Principal Dentist, works in partnership with Dr Alex Fibishenko for all our All On 4 Plus dental implant treatments. Dr Fibishenko is a dedicated dental implants surgeon, who has pioneered the All On 4 approach in Australia.

Our dental practice is an All On 4 Plus Premium Provider. This accreditation gives you comfort, knowing that you’ll receive top-quality treatment and service through all stages of your All On 4 Plus process.

What is All On 4 Plus?

The rear two implants in an All On 4 Plus procedure are tilted, allowing for maximal support, while using fewer implants.

The All On 4 Plus system allows for additional procedures to occur at the same time as the dental implant surgery. These procedures aim to improve and maximise the lifespan of the implants.

The extra procedures include soft tissue repositioning, bone grafting, an extra implant or upgrading existing replacement teeth to a porcelain or zirconia compound.

We have partnered with Dr Alex Fibishenko to treat patients needing an All On 4 Plus approach. He has pioneered All On 4 Plus treatments throughout Australia.

All On 4 Plus aims to improve not only teeth and gum function, but overall aesthetics as well.

What about All On 5?

Some dental practices may offer All On 5 dental implants, where five dental implants are affixed to a jawbone.

Our dentists are qualified and experienced to complete a full row of prosthetic teeth using four implants. This saves time, money and reduces the healing time.

Will it hurt when I have All On 4 Plus dental implant treatment?

Our experienced and professional dental team will manage your pain throughout the implant process. You may choose to have the procedure performed under general anaesthetic or sedation in the comfort of the dental chair at our Mornington dental clinic.

We will provide you with adequate post-surgery care instructions, including the use of over-the-counter pain medication such as paracetamol or ibuprofen as directed.

What can I expect from All On 4 Plus implant treatment?

A prime reason patients choose All On 4 Plus dental implants is to restore chewing, speaking and eating functionality. It just so happens that an added bonus of implant treatment is improved cosmetic appearance.

And from a physiological standpoint, the four implants will give your jaw a revitalised structure and function while maintaining the bone level & health around each implant.

Do I need to have check-ups for my All On 4 Plus implants?

Ongoing maintenance includes a scheduled clean every six months with a member of our dental hygiene team. Additionally, every 12 months, you will need to come in for a special clean with our dentist or hygienist.

We use X-rays to review the progress of the implants, with a scan after one year and every five years after that.

Can I still smoke after I’ve had All On 4 Plus dental implants?

Smoking is a habit that can cause dental implants to fail. This is because some compounds in tobacco smoke cause blood vessels to constrict. In jaw tissue, constricted blood vessels mean it’s harder for blood to nourish the tissue and remove tissue waste. Particularly for jaw tissue supporting new implants immediately after implant surgery, the likelihood of implant failure increases if the blood supply to the tissue decreases.

We recommend smoking cessation for at least four weeks after surgery to support successful integration or fusion of the dental implants to the jawbone (this is called osseointegration).

We can advise you on smoking cessation techniques and supports if you think you might need help in this area.

How long will I need to recover from All On 4 Plus implant treatment?

It usually takes up to a week for bruising and swelling around the implant site to subside. Peak swelling and bruising typically occurs on the third day after surgery, then the healing process becomes quite rapid from then.

We recommend that you avoid participating in any strenuous physical activity for two-three weeks after the dental implant surgery.

From end to end, a complete recovery from full-arch dental implant surgery using four implants in each jaw takes about six months.

Who is suitable for the All On 4 Plus implant approach?

If you have lost some or all of your teeth, or if your remaining teeth are damaged by gum disease (periodontitis) or decay, you may be a suitable candidate.

Patients may also be suitable for All On 4 Plus dental implants if they’ve had failed root canal treatments or failed crowns or bridges.

Our dentists use scans to determine if you have enough bone in your upper or lower jaw for the implants to take.

Can diabetics receive dental implants using the All On 4 Plus approach?

Diabetics may need extra pre- and post-implant care, but as long as their diabetes is under control, we can apply All On 4 Plus implants.

Are there other names for All On 4 Plus dental implants?
